In this Globalised Age what happens the other side of the world today can have immediate impact just minutes later. In a multicultural town like Luton with links throughout the globe, the reality of the joy, the pain, the suffering of the world out there is our reality too. And its not just Luton; even if you live in a traditional English village where there is not a hint of variation from the local accent, or small town in the MidWest of the US, its your reality too a few days later - though you don't have the joy of relationship with the nations we have.
And that's the hope, the joy, the opportunity and the challenge we have. There is a feedback mechanism. What happens here today can have an impact out there tomorrow. A simple act of love, of humility, of friendship, of generosity can be felt in China, in Bangladesh, in Zimbabwe. And countless acts of love can change even the most intractable of problems.
