We hope soon to begin to offer training in Peacemaking, Reconciliation - and Intercultural Relations looked at from that perspective.
Nothing is planned yet, and who knows what might emerge, but this is what we have done in the past!
Full time Training
Foundations for Intercultural Studies (FIS). For four years we ran this 12 week course in peacemaking, reconciliation and intercultural relations. There are no plans currently to run the course again in that format, but you can read about it here.
Within that course we ran a number of short stand-alone seminars. Again therse represnt the sort of things we might offer training on in the future.
Seminars: These were all taught by people involved in the front line of bringing understanding and making peace!
Re-discovering the DNA of the Early Church. With all the challenges we face living and working side by side with a world of diversity in this globalised age we must surely ask the question, what role can the church play? We can hardly ignore the problems, the issues that divide our world are to be found across our multicultural nation. To be radical followers of the Prince of Peace in our postmodern world challenges us to go back to our deepest roots.
Prophetic Peace Building We look at how people can engage prophetically with a world in conflict, based on Biblical teaching and a theology and world-view of peace and reconciliation. We then looked at four streams that feed this ‘Peace River’ of God -- trauma healing, non-violent strategic action, restorative justice, and reconciliation. Carl Stauffer has lived in South Africa since 1994 when he worked alongside the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, promoting healing; he now works across Africa.
Forgiveness - Healing the wounds of ethnic conflict. Rhiannon Lloyd has been powerfully used by God in bringing forgiveness and healing of trauma to the peoples of Rwanda after the genocide that led to the death of well over 1 million people in 1994. This is the workshop she developed there; its truths are universal.
Cross Cultural Conflict. Duane Elmer helps us understand the cultural dimensions of conflict, and gives understanding and tools on how it can be managed effectively and appropriately, resulting in strengthened relationships.
The Promise of Mediation. Stephen Ruttle has a passion to see Christians active in the world through involvement in mediation.
